For Buyers
If I think it’s a bad deal, I’ll tell you.
If it’s a great deal, I’ll tell you that too and help you make it, with the minimum of fuss and paperwork.
Buying a home is fulfilling and thrilling…it can also be exhausting and nerve-wracking. If you’re a first-time buyer, you simply don’t know what you don’t know. Even if you’re a seasoned pro, you may still fall in love with a property and listen more to your heart than your head. (“Oh, we can build another bathroom after we move in.” “The commute isn’t that long. Besides I can make calls on the road.”) That’s why you should work with me – I can help you balance heart and head, with a healthy dose of financial reality when needed.
Tip #1: Don’t Be House Poor. It won’t do you much good to “stretch” for that “perfect home” if you can’t afford furniture, landscaping or repairs. Don’t think you’ll make adjustments elsewhere to make up the difference – do you really want to give up eating out or vacations? What happens if you make a job switch? You’ll be much happier in the long run with a little less house and a bigger bank balance.
Tip #2: You’ll Know It When You See It. So, maybe you have to look at fifty homes – you’ll know when it’s right. Don’t buy something just because you are tired of looking.
Tip #3: Listen to Your Gut. If the deal doesn’t feel right, it’s not. Buyer’s remorse can set in that first night when you wake up to barking dogs and realize you love the floor plan and hate the neighborhood. A dream purchase can quickly turn into a daily nightmare.
